Wrexham Scooter club History
Wrexham Scooter Club first started back in 1958 and ran through the 60`s where members attended runs and events around North Wales and the North West.
Rhyl was always a favourite with the 70`s scooterboys and by 79 when Quadrephenia hit our cinemas a number of clubs appeared and fell by the wayside including the Dragons SC, Wack –it -Open SC, New Direction and the Moon Runners to name but a few.
Wrexham Scooter Club, as it is known today, was formed in February 2001. It all started with a small group discussion of half a dozen scooterists around a table, full of beer on a Sunday afternoon in the Walnut Tree Pub Wrexham, which is the clubs official meeting place.
It was well known that a lot of solo scooterists in and around the Wrexham area were riding about and attending rallies but word of mouth and an advert in Scootering Magazine soon brought them all under one banner.
Scooterist came flooding in from all over North Wales, Shropshire and Cheshire which includes young and old. Scooterists that were around in the 70s` 80s` 90s right through to today are still joining. Currently there are 36 members riding any thing from a 1958 series 1 to the new Vespa GTs 250.
Wrexham Scooter Club is always present at the National rallies and regularly attend the Lancashire Alliance ride-outs or support local club events. One of the main attractions of Wrexham Scooter Club is the Llangollen ride-out which is now into its sixth year attracting over 260 scooters from all over the North West and the Midlands.
